The brainwashing about contagions is a problem
but we're not getting ill, we're getting better; together.
Despite there being no scientific evidence for transmission of illnesses we've been brainwashed for years, all our lives, that they’re infectious. Even though many diseases have been shown to be caused by toxins or deficiencies; the programming still lingers; Viral rabbit hole
However, I have come to think that being 'sick' is not a disease! Being ill is the healing. When we see health this way it all makes sense.
Keeping the family or work group healthy, rested and stress free is clearly of survival benefit. Those in the group will be experiencing the same fears, vitamin deficiencies, seasonal and pollution level variations, EMF’s, and the same family, work, performance, financial, exam and holiday stresses at the same time; and will be detoxing at the same time. The detox system produces mucus, inflammation, fever and tiredness and through the skin spots, poxes and pustules.
One person may start symptoms thereby signalling using visual or olfactory cues, pheromones or micro RNA; especially if genetically related, to the others in the group that detoxing at that time is important, even if the causes are not obvious to us. Some in the group will respond by detoxing, resting and recovering themselves.
The importance of sleep and rest cannot be overestimated. The body may be forced into making us feel rotten in order to get us to rest.
The body can signal the need to detox and rest with ‘flu’ like symptoms, however, periods of holidays and rest can also signal to the body that it is a good time to detox; people often experience ‘flu’ symptoms when they finish work and at the beginning of a holiday for example.
Interference with the homeostatic system with vaccines, medications, alcohol, repeat antibiotics, lack of fresh fruit, veg, sunlight and exercise and refusing or unable to take time off means that some people will really struggle with the healing the body is trying to do.
Supporting someone going through detox involves reassuring them they don’t have a scary contagious disease, fear can be a self fulfilling prophecy. Care definitely does not involve isolating people in wards or rooms of care homes. Hugs and love from all the family are best.
A wave of flu like 'illness' is the homeostatic system working not just in one body but among the bodies of the whole group. We are all intimately interconnected, inseparable and social beings, we are communicating ALL the time, with each other and with other animals and plants around us. This is happening not just when a 'sickness' aka a healing goes around, but is constant We are inseparable.
I think this new (old) way of thinking of our connection to each other and our environment, not as bags of disease and snot, but as vessels of light, useful information, healing and love is the way forward.
I'm not ready to give up the idea of infectious disease but this article nicely laid out the competing thesis in full for me and brought to mind some moments in my own life that would seem to support it. I remember putting off a thesis paper as a junior in HS and getting sick 2 days before it was due. I had a fever, I was legitimate sick and asked for an extension but had to admit to the teacher it was a heck of a coincidence and just shows that I need to learn not to put work off. (I never fully learned that lesson). I also remember a co-worker coming in after being sick for the first time in two years and he even exclaimed something like....'you know I think I needed to get sick to really disconnect from work and chill out for a bit.'
YES, yes, and more YES, Jo! I'm writing about this very thing right now (I'll reference your post if that's ok.) I wrote about this a few weeks ago when I had a "detox" that lasted two weeks. I'm rarely sick but my body insisted this time. This is a tough one for most people. I love Dr. Sam Bailey's video about germ vs. terrain. She does such a great job of simplifying it. Great post! :)
