net zero carbon and eating insects is clearly ridiculous
so is saying that there's no environmental emergency and that factory farming sentient beings is acceptable
Overfishing, sewage and top soil run off from enormous animal farming facilities (over 90% of animals farmed for food are factory farmed) and PCBs from plastic production are diminishing or making extinct the plankton that produces about half of the earths atmospheric oxygen.
Radiation, pollution, pesticides and EMF’s are destroying pollinators.
Billions of non-human animals are subjected to short, brutal lives in concentration camps, or dark, watery prisons so that we can all have cheap meat, dairy and fish. They are given antibiotics to keep them alive and are fed genetically engineered corn and soy beans sprayed with glyphosate.
They are nutrient deficient and their flesh, breast milk and eggs are filled with heavy metals, fertilisers, pesticides and antibiotics which if we continue to eat them will destroy our health.
Land suitable for cultivation as well as forests are taken from indigenous, developing world populations to grow products for the first world; timber, soy or corn crops for intensively farmed animals or used as pasture for compassion/green washed beef.
Eating meat is not a personal choice for the sentient beings being eaten.
We are also losing our souls and our connection to the earth and all its other inhabitants and we need these more than anything.

Yup. I've been thinking about this - those specific things (net zero carbon, the whole 'eating insects' thing..) quite a bit lately, one of these days I need to gather my thoughts and write them out as well. But you made a lot of the points I want to make as well, nicely done.
Good points. We don't need to eat insects instead of animals and their secretions. Ive been vegan for over 21 years and am healthy and happy without eating insects.
